RIP Ron Silver

Well it seems to be a dismal period of time recently. First 2 of my friends were diagnosed with lung cancer, then my DJ friend Pierre died (at a regrettably young age), then came David Tumaroff, now Ron Silver died. Ron Silver, is a Hollywood actor, whom is one of the few that can actually speak Mandarin Chinese. He was supposed to start shooting a movie here in China this week, but alas he is not going to be able to make that engagement.

The thing I remember most about Ron was his zest for life and how he always threw himself wholeheartedly into whatever he was doing regardless of any problems or negative issues.

Once again, RIP and hope you have found your place among the stars.

Ronald Silver is one of the most well respected film, television and theatre actors in the United States. He gained experience and understanding of Chinese culture, history and language through his Master’s Degree in Chinese History from St John’s University in New York and the College of Chinese Culture in Taiwan. Ron won the esteemed Tony Award for his turn in David Mamet’s ‘Speed The Plow’ which he starred in with Madonna in 1988. He was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for his roles in The West Wing and Billionaire Boys Club, a Daytime Emmy for his role in Jack and a Gemini Award for Kissinger & Nixon. His film work includes roles in Ali, Timecop, Red Mercury and Spike Lee’s Girl 6. He was the lead in Enemies: A Love Story, which was nominated for four Academy Awards. Ron has also appeared in other smash-hit television shows including Chicago Hope and Law & Order.
