MeiWenTi Productions has done it again. Bigger and better they have put up a wonderful show, also incorporating a script contest. This time filmmakers were treated to a weekend workshop where they learned about the many aspects of filmmaking, such as camera, sound, lighting, editing, etc. MeiWenTi brought an expert in each field to lecture the eager filmmakers about it.
The contestants were given about 2 and a half weeks in which to shoot, edit an produce the film. They all came through with flying colors. The Prizes were handed out Saturday March 11 at Velvet lounge, where audience members had a chance to view all the 7 submitted films.
This is right now the only place you can get a list of winners from Saturday afternoons event:
The winners are as follows:
- Best Script from the script competition: Beth (Last Name?)
- Best Originality of the Script: Finding Fidel
- Best Cinematography: Love
- Best Editing: Love
- Best Actor: Chad Bagley (Finding Fidel)
- Best Actress: Eve de la Rosa (Finding Fidel)
- 3rd Best Film: Party Piece
- 2nd Best Film: Love
- Best Film: Finding Fidel
I want to give a big congratulations and a standing ovation to everyone who was involved, the lecturers; judges and especially all the filmmakers.
The best editor is granted to LOVE is ridiculaous! The Love’s editor is the worst I saw in the all short films. It was only used a little trick by overlapping two pictures (too much using - overdone)attampting to creat an artistic look, a MTV style , but not into a story-telling, a sequencial way of the motion pictures that the best editor should be deserved. The effect of “LOVE” resulted in a “dirty picture” quality, the audience can’t see the picture clearly. The editor of “LOVE” never underatood what is a sequencial logic way to transit two pictures and scene…Hey, guys if you wanted to win the best short films out there you must give your next film title invovled with the noun LOVE. The last time the “Pyjamas Love” won the best. People must be lack of LOVE these days…
Also it is the bad grant to the “Best Cinematography” to LOVE, you never can tell a light direction/skill to be used on purpose in a scene to help the picture quality by adding the sculpt stage image of the characters while Finding Fidel is much better in this way. The LOVE’s photographer was only used a simple backlight from the sun in a scene then it impressed the jury in “an artistic touch” of the film out there.
